It is with profound sadness that we share that our precious and beloved wife, mother and daughter, Terri Shoniker, passed away on Friday, October 27th.
Predeceased by her beloved father William Bill Scott, Terri is survived by her
family, who made up the entirety of her world, including her husband Mark, her
mother Cora, her sons William and Mark Jr., her daughter-in-law Winkae and the
balance of her extended family.
Terri’s love for children, and all creatures great and small (especially her cats),
was her joy and her passion. Never an animal in distress that didn’t need saving,
never a dog being walked that didn’t need patting. When the boys were younger,
she assumed the role of mother for what seemed like the entire neighborhood,
the home was always warm and welcoming to all of the friends of William and
Mark who made it their second-home. Her true kindness shone through all
things.
She shared that joy and love throughout her years working with children while at
the Toronto School Board. Not surprisingly, she spent the last half of her career
working with developmentally challenged young students, helping them through
their special circumstances.
After a successful and rewarding career, she left her position to devote her time
and passion to her children and family. Terri never strove to be the center of
attention, but she was always the center of our family and its strength.
Friends and family are invited to join us in a celebration of Terris life on Saturday,
November 4, 2023 at the Accettone Funeral Home located at 384 Finley Ave, Ajax,ON L1S 2E3.
Visitation to start at 10:00am. Service at 11:00am, followed by a reception at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Terri would have preferred that any donations be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region.
Interment at Christ the King Cemetery at 7770
Steeles Ave. East, Markham, ON L6B 1A8 to follow at approximately 2:00pm.

Some of my greatest memories growing up were visiting my cousins Mark and Will. Whenever we came back from running around and playing outside Aunt Terri was also there with a big smile and food ready for us to eat.
She will be greatly missed.

Our sincerest condolences to the Shoniker family and to Terry’s mom Cora on the passing of Terry.
Terry was always a kind and loving individual, not only to the people around her but also towards animals. I recall once calling her to get her help yo retrieve a bird that got in through our chimney to the fireplace. She dropped everything she was doing at that time and showed up at the door to help.
Terry had an infectious laugh that was sure to make others laugh with her. She loved her two boys, Mark Jr. and William and loved to help them with their homework….maybe a time or two, completing an assignment mostly on her own and giggling about what mark she would get. She would often have the neighbourhood kids join in during the summer in her kitchen to work on keeping their minds sharp for the following year of school by doing practice worksheets. The kids really appreciated all of her snacks, opening her house for them and of course the backyard pool parties. She will be truly missed.
Rest in peace my friend!
