Bonair, Norma Evangeline

November 1929 - August 2023
Born November 7 th 1929 Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Norma grew up in humble dwellings in the town of Belmont with four siblings. At the age of 14, she went to a teacher’s college to pursue her dream of becoming an educator. Norma would go on to teach primary school classes in Trinidad, and when she came to Canada was a councillor for disabled children in Orillia and Toronto, and as a front desk worker in an adoption agency. She enjoyed being at the service of children until her retirement in the 1990s. She married the love of her life Winfred Bonair (affectionately known as Bunny) on February 7 th 1958. Their common love of teaching and faith in God brought them together which would create the foundation for their family. They had four children- Wendy, Joanne, Wendel and Wennell before coming to Canada on March 8 th 1970. A kind and loving mother, Norma provided a strong foundation for love, trust, and compassion. She always had words of wisdom and encouragement to share for all those she met, and open arms to uplift them when they needed it the most. Norma is survived by her four children (Wendy, Joanne, Wendel and Wennell), 6 grandchildren (Charlon, Mercedes, Chelsi, Avery, Crystal and Candice) and two great-grandchildren (Ariel and Julian).
Friends will be received on Tuesday August 8 at the Accettone Funeral Home Ltd., from 7 - 9 pm Mass will be held on Wednesday August 9 at 11 am at St Bernadette Church (21 Bayly Street East, Ajax)
