It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeannette Josephine Barras (McGregor) on Saturday, April 13th, 2024. She fought a tough and courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her husband Dale, her four daughters: Julie (Murray), Corrin (Brian), Danette (Rick), and Stacey. She was the loving Grandmother of Kale (Maddie), Ashlyn (Raine), Jordan, Olivia, Jace, Isaac, Jaxson, Savannah, and Austen. She was the dear sister of Jo-Anne (Dave) of Maugerville, NB, Janice (Russ) of Ajax, and brother Bill of Ajax. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews and their families: Tanya, Tara, Melynda, Sabrina, Karen, Kelly, Kristy, Jay, Jennifer, Lindsay, Chris, Mike, Greg, and rebel friend Marilyn (Dave). Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the weekly card game with her friend and card partner Lisa (Lou). She will be greatly missed by her close friends Mike and Judy, who were always there when she needed someone to lean on. She was predeceased by her loving parents Gord and Marg (McKee). Her door was always open, and she welcomed many into her home. She will be greatly missed by many, and her legacy of giving and compassion towards others will live on through us.
We will be honoring her life and legacy on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Accettone Funeral Home, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, 384 Finley Ave., Ajax. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

My deepest condolences to all of you. I can’t fathom how all of you must be feeling. Losing a spouse or parent is something that is so heartbreaking.
Jeanette knew that she was loved and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to chat with her a month ago.
Dale and Girls, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers today. Hugs

A letter to our gramma, We miss you so much. You weren’t just our gramma, you were our best friend, our teacher, our happy place. You could turn our worst days into our best, you were the happiest kindest most loving person ever in the whole world. Our favourite memories were getting in the car and driving to gramma’s knowing we were about to have the most fun in our lives. You were special, when we would play at your house you wouldn’t just watch us, you would join in and you gave the warmest gentlest most loving hugs and kisses. We wish so badly that you were still here but Mommy and Daddy assure us that you are now watching over us as our guardian angel, with us all the time. And now we understand why our Mommy is so amazing… it’s because you were her Mommy. So we want you to know that you were everything to us and we are extremely grateful. From this moment forward we will love our lives to the fullest, we will one day be the men that make you proud, and we will always know that a huge reason for it was because we were blessed and fortunate enough to spend our first years in this big world with you. And please don’t worry about our Mommy, your daughter, she is just like you and we will protect her the same way you did. Goodbye Gramma, thank you for being the world to us, we love you now and will love and thank you forever. You are the most beautiful angel in Heaven

I can count on one hand how many people made an imprint on my heart. Jeannette is definitely one of them. It didn't matter if you havent kept in touch or paths took you elsewhere you always knew no matter what she would be there to support you if you needed it. I hadn't seen mama Barras for years... but she was one of the first to accept my wedding invitation. She was one of the first people on my wedding list because how could I not have her there. She was my second mom and was there for many of my trials and tribulations as a kid and young adult. So much laughter and so many tears. The best days of growing up were spent at her home with her girls and all our friends. She truly was... no... IS a very special person. With a very big heart. I will never understand how life deals these cards to the least deserving people.
Jeannette, you will be missed so much. Don't you worry about Dale or your girls. You have raised every single one of them to be independent and strong! You have built a family with so much love and friendship and I am so glad they have eachother (and so many more) to lean on when times get tough.
You will be missed greatly The world is a quiet place without you in it.
