Allan David Daley, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
Allan was born on July 1, 1944, in Huntingdonshire, England. Allan immigrated to Canada as a young child. He met the love of his life, Lauren (nee Fernandes), in Toronto and they married on July 4, 1970. They went on to spend the next 53 years building an admirable and wonderful life. Lauren will miss him terribly but takes solace in the beautiful memories they created throughout their lives together.
Allan felt fortunate to have three loving children - Daryl, Maureen, and Alana. He will be greatly missed by them, along with their spouses; Nathalie, Kevin, and Michael
His passing will also bring great loss to his cherished grandchildren, Liam, Brandon, Emily, Meagan, River, Zachary, Mitchell, and Samuel. They enjoyed keeping him company and laughing along with his style of humour.
Allan is predeceased by his older brother, Neil Imrie, younger brother Robert (Bobby) Aldridge, and mother Margaret Aldridge (nee Imrie).
Everyone who knew Allan recognized that he was hard-working, loving, and always able to lighten the mood with a joke. To all who knew and loved him, he will forever be age 39, just like Jack Benny. His passion for history meant he always had an interesting story to tell. He enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with Lauren on the couch watching their favourite tv programs. He lived a wonderful and complete life. He will be missed dearly by all.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Accettone Funeral Home (384 Finley Avenue, Ajax, ON. L1S 2E3, 905-428-9090).
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Parish (903 Giffard Street, Whitby, ON. L1N 2S2, 905-668-3676).
For those who wish to express sympathy, the family would welcome flowers or a donation made to the charity of your choice in Allan's name.
Burial ceremony will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (355 Taunton Road East, Whitby, ON. L1R 3L4, 905-668-8912) following the Mass.

Sincere condolences to all in Allan's family.
Allan was a person who made everyone feel comfortable in his presence, whether in his own home or anywhere else. He did it just by being himself.
It was always a pleasure chatting with Allan. While sharing his love of history, his voice would sometimes drop almost to a whisper, making the story even more interesting.
I have memories of days past -- Allan watching TV, a book in one hand, a bag of chips in the other, and a pot of tea brewing in the kitchen. Multi-tasking and contented with the simple joys of life.
May the Perpetual Light shine upon him and may he rest in peace.

Dearest Lauren, Daryl, Maureen, Alana and all your families,
He will indeed be missed; at every turn you take, you'll feel his presence. Please smile (or laugh) whenever you call to mind the happy times you've shared over the last 53 years, even though it will feel as if they were too few. God Rest his Soul and may he be surrounded by all the Angels who accompanied him to his Eternal Home.
You are in my prayers always.
Much love,
Barbara, Benedicta and Dean
