It is with sadness that we announce that Malcolm Fernandes passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on January 10, 2021 at Winbourne Park Long Term Care at the age of 79.
Beloved husband of Doreen for 50 years , cherished father of Karl(Anne-Marie) , proud Grandpa to Bianca and Stella-Rose. Brother of Neville (Florie) , uncle to Janice (Brian) and Grand uncle to Chantelle. He will be dearly remembered by all of his extended family and friends.
Malcolm’s family would like to extend a warm thanks to all the staff at Winbourne for the care , compassion , and comfort they provided for him.
A celebration of Malcolm’s life will be held at Accettone Funeral home in Ajax,Ont. at a later date.
Malcolm will always be remembered for his kind heart , for always putting others ahead of himself ,and for his eternal love of music. Starting with the St Pats band in Karachi , where he first played the bagpipes and developed his passion for all things musical.
He was best known for playing Sax, Flute , and Lead guitar in several bands and most notably as part of the original Keynotes who headlined the Inter continental Hotel.
He was later a part owner of a music store in Chicoutimi , Quebec . Where his good nature and friendliness , encouraged budding musicians to pursue their passions. He greatly enjoyed being part of the Choir at St Bernadette’s and was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
To know him was to love him and most will never know the pain and suffering that he continuously lived with for 30 years as a result of Multiple Sclerosis , as he was always more concerned about others.
He will be missed for his sense of humour, his ever present good nature , and unwavering faith. He was most proud of his family and especially his grand daughters who meant the world to him .
